Hello John,My advice is to go for the NetGift’s saddlebag 7 piece set. It really looks great, the leather is genuine and the build quality is just amazing. I have had them since Christmas and those babies are lovely. My bike loves them and I do too.I have realised that there is no point in spending big money on something like that when you can get the same quality on much lower price. I even think that the set is on sale now with some insane discount. Hope that helps.

I think you have little recourse.Doesn’t mean I don’t feel ya , but used sales are almost always as is.A court would say that there should be an assumption of defects on account of the age of the vehicle.The only chance I see you have is if you have them on tape declaring it “mint”.OR a written contract guaranteeing “mint”.Sorry.Fixing an old cycle can be fun though. It may be worth more to you in the long haul if you fix it up.LEMON laws ONLY pertain to NEW vehicles.If it lasted 30 years it cannot be deemed a lemon , cause they fail right off the assembly line.

As far as appearance, you should match the style of your bags to the lines of your bike as closely as possible. The bags you featured would not look good on a sport bike but would be fine on a cruiser.Consider how often you will be riding and what gear you will be carrying with you. There are bags that can be locked; bags that can be removed from the bike if you stop overnight; hard-sided bags; soft-sided bags; bags that are small and bags that are very roomy. My personal choice is the cordura nylon bags. Tour Master makes some fine ones. That’s just a personal preference, however.

Hi,IMHO the most important equipment is the one that you wear and the one that your bike wears (saddlebags) because you need to protect yourself with helmet, jacket and gloves and also be able to carry and adequate arsenal of items. That is why personal equipment and saddlebags are the ABC of motorbiking.

First of all, i own a 1991 fxr since new with over 160,000 miles on it. This is whats in my saddle bags. Tools, small parts, extra headlight bulb, official shop service manual, rain suits, flashlights, electrical tape, bungee cords, wire, paper towels, towels, rubber gloves, all types of gloves, chaps, a sweatshirt and jacket that always stays with the bike, several sun glasses, suntan lotion, bottle water, chocolate bars, granola bars, motor oil, fuel line for siphoning, all kinds of knit hats and first aid kit. I’m probably forgeting some stuff but thats most of it. Ride safe and keep the shiny side up.

Remove the fender strut bolts and replace them with the ones from the saddle bags, and support the new bags with them. any more then that check their web site for the de-sructions man.

Hi there,I have recently purchased a set of saddlebags made from genuine buffalo leather and I can say that the build quality is great for the price. You can basically order from many places but I have recently spotted a few very good online shops that give great discounts. Since then I am only shopping for Harley Davidson’s accessories from there. Check the resource for that purpose.I am sure you will be more than able to fit in your budget for those items. Good luck!

Saddlebags are not determined by size related to the bike. There is no way to answer your question.What you need to do is locate saddlebag support brackets for your bike and then pick bags that fit your taste for style and size.HD is expensive, yes I admit, but the quality of their leather products is simply unbeatable. THEIR bags are made for THEIR bikes. You will find support brackets and bags in the HD Accessory catalog, as well as numerous aftermarket companies.Another option to look into, which is my preference, is reinforced nylon bags….Click on the link below and look through the luggage section. Anything from Drag Specialties can be ordered from any Harley shop. harley and honda both build good bikes. i prefer harley myself, they are much more customizable than most foreign made bikes. don’t worry about harley quality issues you may hear about, those days ended in the ’70s. modern harleys are very dependable bikes. i have 28K on my ‘05 heritage and the only problem i have had was a faulty circuit breaker that was 10 bucks to replace.my wife rides an ‘03 honda shadow ace that is really a good bike. my only complaints are the small gas tank,(3 gal) and the bike seems a little underpowered. the second is only because i am used to a much larger engine size. which ever he chooses, don’t buy too small. stick to 750cc or bigger in a street bike. it is much better for 2 up riding and gives you the power you need on the highway. personaly ,i would say 800cc or larger.$7000 isn’t much money to spend on a cruiser/street motorcycle. a new harley sportster 883 will cost you more than that and you won’t get much bigger in a new honda for that money. look for used bikes. you can get a lot more bike for the money. many used bikes will have less than 10,000 miles and may cost half what a new one of the same model.

Hi John,I have created my own system that works just great. I just use a thermal insulating bag (those that you can get from the supermarket’s fish department) and cut it in the right shape. Then I placed it in one of my saddlebags that is big enough to keep a 6 pack and since then I have no problem keeping my beer/soda cold on medium trips. Some of the guys gave good ideas too. Might be a bit high as prices have dropped with economy. A year ago it would have been a good deal, might still be depends on individual bike and location as prices vary in different parts of the country. Try running a check with KBB or Nada (one lists bikes but I cannot say which)

Qwick rule of thumb. 70% of retail will usually makes them go. In this economy you may have to go to 60%, even if in like new condition.
